BROOKSVILLE – With Cannabis becoming more accepted in society, many have forgotten that the hallucinogenic plant is still illegal in most states and is prohibited under Federal Law. But that doesn’t stop some people from believing it’s okay to possess the drug, and in some cases, call police when someone steals their stash.

REGIONAL – The sound of loud booms along the Gulf coast of Florida have rattled windows and the nerves of many residents for years. In recent weeks those ground shaking booms have become more frequent and residents are asking why.

UPDATE: 11/29/2017, 12:05 p.m. – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 83-year-old Mary Zemcik was traveling in front of the Winn Dixie grocery store, as 67-year-old Maria Resendes Pavao was crossing the street in the designated crosswalk. Zimcik failed to stop for Pavao and ran over her.

Witnesses tell RNRF that several people lifted the car off Pavao before paramedics arrived on scene, but that has not been confirmed.

Pavao was airlifted to Bayonet Point Hospital where she later died.

Charges are pending, according to officials.

WEEKI WACHEE – A woman died this morning after sources say she was run over by a car in front of a local grocery store.

HOMOSASSA (CITRUS) – Human remains discovered inside a trash can last week have been positively identified as that of missing Homosassa man, 33-year-old Ryan Michael McClellan.

LECANTO (CITRUS) – The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of human remains that were found inside a trash can.

SPRING HILL – One person suffered traumatic injuries and a second refused treatment, after two motorcycles collided on Spring Hill Drive.

WEEKI WACHEE – Pointing a laser at a Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter landed one man behind bars Saturday and he could face up to 5-years in prison, and a $5,000 fine.

HUDSON (PASCO) – A structure fire led to a man suffering severe burns, after a pickup truck caught fire inside a detached garage.
