BROOKSVILLE – Nearly three years after the brutal stabbing death of 29-year-old Dwayne Alan Brown inside his Spring Hill home, a Judge ordered the man responsible for Brown’s murder to spend the next quarter century behind bars.

UPDATE: 10:49 A.M. – The Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as 22-year-old Alek Nathaniel Smith.
Officials say 21-year-old Victoria Anne Casey and a 2-year-old child were also in the residence at the time of the attack. Casey suffered minor injuries. The child was not injured.
SPRING HILL – Officials say a man was beat and shot to death early this morning during a home invasion on Legend Street.
HERNANDO – The term quota is a dirty word among most chief law enforcement officers. They’d rather you refer to it as statistical policing or other variant to avoid speculation that arrests, and traffic citations are conducted using a numbers-based system. However you slice it, the controversy has led to numerous lawsuits across the country, resulting in millions-of-dollars in settlements.
UPDATE 10/14/2018, 11:08 A.M. – The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the deceased as 65-year-old William Richard Penning of Homosassa. The passenger, 64-year-old Joyce Ann Keller, also of Homosassa, remains in critical condition.
UPDATE 10/14/2018, 12:46 A.M. – The Florida Highway Patrol is now reporting at least one fatality.
According to officials, a Harley Davidson motorcycle occupied by a 65-year-old male driver and an unknown age female passenger was traveling eastbound on Cortez Blvd, approaching Cobb Road. 74-year-old Thomas Schilk was traveling westbound on Jefferson Street (Cortez Blvd) approaching the same intersection in a Chevy Cruze. Officials say the driver of the motorcycle turned left under a red light and was struck by Schilk’s vehicle. Both occupants suffered critical injuries and were airlifted to Bayonet Point Hospital, where the male driver later died. The female passenger remains in critical condition.
Schilk was not injured in the crash.
BROOKSVILLE – At least two people suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle at Cobb Road and Cortez Blvd.
