Accused Burglar Says “I was just trying to get away from my wife”
SPRING HILL – A man charged with attempting to break into two homes Saturday gave deputies a bizarre explanation for committing the crimes.
According to reports, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 2449 Dustin Circle around 11:00 p.m. Saturday, after Wanda and Wayne Vyborny reported that someone had broken a rear window in an attempt to gain entry. Mr. Vyborny threatened the suspect, later identified as 56-year-old William John Powers, causing him to flee. Less than three minutes later a second burglary attempt was reported at 2470 Dustin Circle. The resident, Michael Vullo, says the suspect kicked and pulled at the front door before hiding from deputies under his truck. Powers attempted to flee from deputies, but he was quickly taken into custody.
Powers, who has virtually no criminal history, could not provide a valid reason for his actions, and would only say he was trying to get away from his wife.
Powers is charged with Burglary, Prowling, and Resisting Arrest. Powers is free on an $11,000 bond.
