  • The fighting happen because Springstead team was upset that NCT won the game. This could have not happen if they would have take it and went on about there business. I would like to say that it was not a NCT student it was a Springstead student that hit a grown man that was minding his own business. The grown man has head injuries now. This is a shame that kids think of fighting is right.

    • Incorrect, fight occured because of someone bumping/pushing/running through of a female counter part as people exited the building. When, the gentleman confronted who did it, fight ensued. Again, absolutely nothing to do with the game. Give it up

  • Also, if you were not at either game at NC or SHS, please do not comment on your experiences with high school athletics. As heated as this rivalry is and as bad as these kids and coaches want to win, both games were good, clean healthy competition. What a true rivalry is all about. SHS won the 1st, NCT winning the 2nd. Sportsmanship was seen on both sides throughout the contests. Go check out a high school sporting event once in awhile.

  • Again, this altercation had absolutely nothing to do with the game other than the fact it just happened to happen after the game. Again, absolutely no athletes or coaches were involved or had anything to do with it. The race to report first now-a-days causes the inaccurate, unfortunate and unfair “game of telephone” to be played and now somehow student-athletes, a schools name & a good high school rivalry gets run through the mud…sad. Get the whole story or dont report.

      • Not to mention, it was after the game, not during.

    • No arrests? That’s because they are to busy arresting 70 yr old women for assault on LEO and then arresting a sick elderly lady fighting cancer who was walking on a dark road who called 911 for help and then we have deputies jerking off in their cruisers and that is what we know of. Get rid of them all and then start over hiring deputies with empathy and morals and sheriff needs to go too for looking the other way when laws are broken from the deputies. NOT ACCEPTABLE

  • These kids aren’t that tough. The kids in my high school were real tough. The only song the school band ever learned to play was Taps. 💪😃

    • You are really bigotted!!! Every time there’s violence you make that assumption, I’m reading between the lines. You afraid to type what you really mean to say. When it’s Caucasians in violence, oh they have mental issues. Grow up you coward!!!

  • I believe Denise Lannon may have hit the nail on the head. The “adults” are so competetive it’s ridiculous. No longer are games for fun and exercise, now it’s all about WIN AT ANY COST. no longer about SPORTSMANSHIP, now it’s WIN AT ANY COST AND ONE-UP-MANSHIP.

  • Example of how our kids pick up
Actions from Parents, Teachers, & Coaches
and display them in public. Blame should be placed on those whom help form and develope the adolescence brain.

  • Probably related to the drive by shooting earlier.

  • For the record, this involved Nature Coast kids and a grown man, had nothing to do with the basketball game. The word “brawl” is a bit much, doesn’t exactly fit the description of the actual situation. Also, might be a good idea to wait to have all info before you start reporting.
Deputies, administration and EMS responded appropriately.

    • I don’t see anything in this article that say’s it was the kids that started or were involved in this “brawl” Why don’t we wait for the whole story.
When my son was in Middle school, I witnessed the parents causing a scene, not the kids. Just saying…..
