Attacker Stabs Deaf Man in the Head with Pointed Glass Breaker
BROOKSVILLE – Deputies responded to 21321 Canal Drive Friday, after reports of a physical disturbance at that location. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 18-year-old Austin Carhart with a stab wound to the back of the head, just below the base of the skull.
According to several witnesses at the scene, Carhart, who is reportedly deaf, and the suspect, 37-year-old Kenneth Sparks were engaged in an argument, when Sparks stabbed him in the back of the head with the pointed end of a glass breaker.
Carhart was transported to Bayfront Health Brooksville for treatment and was later released.
Sparks admitted to striking Carhart but denied holding a weapon in his hand.
Sparks is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is currently behind bars, held on a $10,000 bond for that charge. However, due to violating probation for a grand theft charge out of Marion County, Sparks is held without bond.
An understandably angry Carhart posted several messages on social media, including this one directed at his attacker, “It takes more than one shot to kill a Bull Moose m****r f****r… I’m a warrior!”
