Eagles romp Leopards to get back on winning track
Dominique Walker had 28 carries for 160 yards and two touchdowns, as Springstead rebounded to thrash the Hernando Leopards 35-10 Friday night.
The Eagles (1-1) outgained the Leopards (0-2) 348-188 in total yards, led by Walker and TJ Owens who combined for four touchdowns.
Coming off a game against Fivay where they scored 40 points, the Leopards failed to record a passing yard this game, and were plagued by turnovers.
Hernando’s best opportunity came early in a scoreless game, as Bruce Warren returned a punt 63-yards to the Eagle 22. However, the drive went two yards, and was ended by a Demetrius Barry interception at the 5-yard line, a turning point on which Springstead would take momentum and never look back.
Up Next: Springstead will travel to rival Nature Coast. Kickoff is Friday at 7:30pm.
Up Next: Hernando will look to get their first win as they host South Sumter Friday at 7:30pm.
Wilson leads Ridgewood past Central
Glass Wilson had 22 carries for 197 yards and two touchdowns, and even threw a touchdown pass as Ridgewood rolled Central 49-18.
The Rams (2-0), went up 18-0 after the opening kickoff and despite solid efforts from De’Vonta Smith and Sebastian Rivera, the Bears (1-1) would never quite be able to get back in it.
Rivera was 12-of-27 for 188 and two touchdowns, both to Emmanuel Scott who grabbed 10 passes for 178 yards.
Central, which made a calling on defense last season, didn’t have an answer for Wilson or Tank Farria, who caught four passes for 118 yards and four touchdowns.
Up Next: Central will look to rebound as they host Fivay, kickoff is 7:30pm.
