Body Discovered in Wooded Area Near Deltona and Forest Oaks

UPDATE: 4:55 P.M. – Officials say the death appears to be the result of natural causes. The investigation continues.

SPRING HILL – Around 1:00 p.m. today Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Family Dollar on Deltona Blvd, after reports that a body was discovered in an adjacent wooded area.

Major Case Detectives and the State Medical Examiner will take over the case to determine if there is any sign of foul play.

I spoke to “Rick,” a witness at the scene who said he responded to the area to try and help the man before deputies cordoned off the area. Rick described the victim as an older man who lived in the wooded area.

According to a Family Dollar employee, a lot of homeless people live in that wooded area and often purchase items in her store. The employee says she probably knows who passed away.

We will bring more on this story as it develops.

  • What a sad thing. We are all just a heartbeat away from homelessness in todays world. I’ve come very close to being there but by the grace of God. May this man finally find an eternal home & peace he didn’t find on earth.
To Lisa & her family God bless you for caring & trying to help. Not all homeless people are criminals or bums. Some fell on hard times due to job loss, home forclosures, no family , etc. Lisa & family, you will be rewarded.
