Bon Jovi Stomps for Clinton, Kaine in St. Petersburg, Plays Classic Hits
ST. PETERSBURG (PINELLAS) – Iconic rock star, Jon Bon Jovi rocked the State Theater last night, in support of Hillary Clinton and running mate Sen. Tim Kaine.
The New Jersey native wooed a packed house with acoustic versions of You Give Love a Bad Name and Livin’ On a Prayer.
Prior to his performance, Bon Jovi read a letter that he says he found on the internet, of a man who claims to be a Republican voting for Hillary Clinton. From the letter he reads “I am a Republican, I’m a gun owner, I’m a Catholic, and yesterday I voted… I voted for the Affordable Care Act… I voted to keep weapons off of our streets and out of the hands of criminals… I voted that we can support law enforcement while recognizing that implicit bias affects all of us… I voted to celebrate the love our gay friends and families can share with us… I voted for Hillary Clinton.”
Bon Jovi made his own prediction based on the past elections, when he said “As goes Hillsborough County, usually goes Florida, and in most cases the United States of America.”
Tim Kaine reminded supporters that residents can still vote Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. He went on to say “We’re not just waves in the Ocean folks and we’re not just grains of sand – we’ve got power… If you put your votes behind Hillary Clinton it is done.”
Florida Republican Party Chairman, Blaise Ingoglia mocked the Clinton Campaign for turning rallies into concerts, when he appeared on Fox Business with Lou Dobbs. Ingoglia told Dobbs “If you have to have concerts in the State of Florida featuring JLo and Bon Jovi, you know you have an unenthusiastic campaign…” Ingoglia goes on to poke fun at Clinton Camp by saying “…And speaking of Bon Jovi, the only thing living on a prayer these days is the idea that Hillary Clinton is going to go to Washington D.C. and change things.”
Former Governor Charlie Crist and U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Murphy also attended last night’s event.
