BREAKING: Bomb Squad Responding to Scene of Gas Leak – Road Remains Closed
BROOKSVILLE – Earlier we brought you news of a natural gas leak on Spring Hill Drive, after a car crashed into TECO gas line in front of the Hernando County Jail. ORIGINAL REPORT
TECO personnel shut off a valve leading to the fractured gas line, but the road remains closed at this time.
Officials now say a Citrus County Bomb Squad is en route to the scene, but they could not elaborate on the reason for their response.
Unconfirmed sources tell RNRF “devices” were located inside the vehicle that crashed into the gas line.
Officials say the driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital, where there condition remains unknown.
UPDATE: 8/9/2015, 3:08 PM – The bomb squad and fire rescue are clearing the scene and it appears there is no threat the area. At this time, officials have not released a formal statement regarding the situation.
