UPDATE: 7:22 A.M. – Gov. Rick Scott has suspended Commissioner Nick Nicholson.
HERNANDO – In a surprise turn of events, the embattled Hernando County Commissioner Nick Nicholson sends a request to Gov. Rick Scott, asking that he temporarily suspend him.
In a statement Nicholson Writes:
Dear Governor Scott:
In lite of my recent arrest and subsequent charges and until such time as a final decision is reached as to the disposition of my being a member of the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners, I feel compelled to request an immediate temporary suspension from my duties as a County Commissioner.
I was involved in circumstances that have unduly caused embarrassment to my loved ones, my friends and colleagues and my community. In addition, I also feel you should know that I have already started serious counseling and am currently under the care of a Doctor.
In short, until the issues are resolved, I do not wish to subject my beloved family, friends and Hernando County Residents to the excruciating shame of the accusation and charges. Pease Know that I remain totally devoted to the “good” of Hernando County and the State of Florida and look forward to hearing from you at t your earliest convenience.
The Governor’s Office has yet to respond.
