BREAKING: Officer Involved Shooting – One Dead from Self-Inflicted Gunshot
SPRING HILL – Around 2:35 a.m. the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office received a message from Citrus County officials, regarding a shooting that occurred in Citrus County. Deputies in Hernando County were asked to search for the suspect, who was involved in the shooting.
At approximately 2:41 a.m. Hernando County Deputies encountered the suspect in a white SUV, in the 7-Eleven parking lot, at Berkeley Manor Blvd and Commercial Way.
As Deputies approached the SUV, a shot was fired from within the vehicle. In response, one Hernando County Deputy returned fire.
Fire Rescue arrived on the scene and transported a white male to a local hospital, where he later died.
It was determined that the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Initial reports indicate that the man was not struck by rounds fired by the deputy.
The FDLE will be investigating due to the officer involved shooting, say officials.
UPDATE: According to Citrus County Officials, the suspect sought for a shooting incident in Inverness yesterday, is Jeffery Michael Lloyd. He is a convicted felon and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Officials have not confirmed if the deceased man from this morning’s shooting is Jeffrey Lioyd, but according to reports, he left Citrus County in a white minivan.
UPDATE: Officials have confirmed the identity of the suspect/victim as Jeffrey Michael Lloyd. A full report on what led to Lloyd taking his own life is forthcoming.
