BREAKING: Target in Drive By Shooting Fires Back – Armed Suspect Possibly Injured
SPRING HILL – Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a man who may have been involved in a drive by shooting at a residence on Sand Hill Ave around 5:00 pm this evening.
Officials have not released a statement at this time but according to our sources, someone inside the silver/grey Nissan Altima (pictured below) drove by a residence on Sand Hill Ave and opened fire.
There are unconfirmed reports that the intended target returned fire – striking one of the suspects in the leg. The vehicle sped away and may have dropped the shooter off in the area of Norvell Road and Mill Ave. A K-9 unit attempted to track the suspect but they were unable to locate him in the area. A Pasco County Air Unit responded to the area but so far the suspect has not been found.
While searching neighboring streets deputies located the suspect vehicle on Mayberry road and conducted a traffic stop. One suspect was detained and placed in a patrol car. A third person who may have been involved was seen talking to deputies but was not detained.
There are no reports of injuries at the scene of the crime.

UPDATE: The following information was provided by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in response to yesterday’s shooting.
On 07-17-15 at approximately 5:04 p.m., the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a call regarding possible shots fired in the area of 11306 Sand Hill Avenue in Spring Hill.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene immediately.
Preliminary investigation reveals that gunshots were in fact fired outside of the residence located at 11306 Sand Hill Avenue.
Detectives do not believe that this was a random act. It is possible this incident stemmed from an altercation that occurred earlier in the day.
The investigation is active. No additional details will be released at this time.
