Brothers, 9 and 10 Charged with Assaulting Sheriff’s Deputies, One Armed with Box Cutter
SPRING HILL – What began as a possible child abuse report to 911, quickly turned violent after the alleged young victims attacked the responding Sheriff’s Deputies.
According to reports, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Dollar Tree located at 1289 Wendy Court, after 9 and 10-year-old brothers told store employees that they ran away from home. Deputies soon learned that the boys were punished for not cleaning their room, so they ran away.
Deputies made contact with the boys inside the Dollar Tree but they quickly became enraged after being told they would not be placed into foster care. That’s when the older brother stated that he had previously “kicked the sh*t” out of a police officer and would harm the deputies if they were returned to their mother. He further stated that he would kick the deputy in the “balls” as he has also done in the past. The younger brother proceeded to remove a yellow box cutter and point it at deputies in a threatening manner. After several commands, deputies forcibly removed the knife and place him into custody.
The older brother was also taken into custody after a brief scuffle with deputies.
The older brother is charged with resisting arrest and making threats towards law enforcement. The younger brother faces an aggravated assault charge. Both have been released back into the custody of their mother.
