Massive Brush Fire Closes Suncoast Parkway Near Starkey Park Preserve

UPDATE: 9:05 P.M. – Official say there is no longer a threat to residents who live inside the Bexley Subdivision.

The Suncoast Parkway will remain closed over night and possibly Sunday.

Officials remind residents that a burn ban remains in effect and that BBQ grilling and campfires will not be allowed in Pasco County Parks until further notice.

UPDATE: 7:08 P.M. – The Suncoast Parkway is closed in both directions between SR-52 and SR-54.

An unrelated brush fire has closed northbound I-75 from Fletcher to Bruce B. Downs.

LAND O’ LAKES (PASCO) – Residents who live in the Bexley Ranch subdivision are being asked to voluntarily evacuate, as an over 120-acre brush fire inches closer to their neighborhood.

Officials say the Starkey Park Brush Fire may jump the Suncoast Parkway and could threaten residents who live on the east side of the parkway.

The Suncoast Parkway is expected to be shut down at any time due to the fire.

    • It is a huge fire but, one little ember can blow a long ways especially in the winds we have had and that is why people should not be doing any burning whatsoever!

    • Disinformation. That was the Flatwoods Park fire. The Starkey Ranch fire is in West Pasco.
