California Woman Extradited back to Hernando County to Face Manslaughter Charge
BROOKSVILLE – Officials with the Florida Highway Patrol are reporting the arrest of a California woman, wanted in connection with a 2011 crash that killed one person and injured three others.
According to reports, then 17-year-old Victoria Gonzalez was traveling southbound on I-75, near State Road 93, when she lost control of her Ford Explorer and overturned.
30-year-old Jesus Gonzalez (Relation Unknown) was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. Three others, including Victoria, sustained various injuries and a fourth person walked away unharmed.
Authorities obtained a warrant for Gonzalez’ arrest in 2012, but she fled the state to avoid prosecution.
On Sunday, Gonzalez was booked into the Hernando County Jail, after authorities located her at a residence in Compton California.
Gonzalez faces one count of Vehicular Manslaughter, in addition to several other related charges.
Results of a toxicology report revealed that Gonzalez was under the influence of drug and alcohol at the time of the crash.
Gonzalez remains behind bars – held on $54,500 bond.
