Carjacking Leads to Slow Pursuit – Suspect Still At Large
SPRING HILL – Deputies are currently searching for a carjacking suspect that stole a motorcycle at the Bank of America on Spring Hill Drive (Near Kenlake Ave).
Around 4:30 p.m. deputies responded to the Bank of America, where the victim claims a man approached him and demanded that he surrender his motorcycle. The victim says the suspect threatened him with a handgun but that it was never displayed.
Within an hour of the theft, a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper spotted the motorcycle in Pasco County, headed north on Shady Hill Road. Numerous Troopers and Sheriff’s Deputies began setting up at various locations to try and apprehend the suspect. Although the suspect allegedly committed a felony, Law Enforcement did not engage and pursue the suspect. From a distance, Law Enforcement watched as the suspect made his way north on US-41 and then return south on California Street, where they lost sight of him.
The only information that we have at this time is that the motorcycle is a Red Honda CBR 600 with blue rims and black decals. The suspect may be a white male in his 20’s and could be wearing khaki pants and hoodie.
The victim did not wish to speak the media regarding the incident.
