Cell Phone Ping Leads Deputies to Carjacking Suspects, Two Arrested After Off-Road Pursuit
LAND O’ LAKES (PASCO) – Two carjacking suspects are behind bars today after Pasco County Sheriff’s Deputies caught up with the vehicle they stole out of Manatee County early this morning.
According to Pasco County Officials, Deputies received word of a Carjacking that occurred in Bradenton and that the vehicle may be headed towards the Wesley Chapel area. Bradenton Police were pinging the victim’s cellphone which was also stolen and still inside the vehicle.
Deputies soon spotted the silver Mercedes parked at the Circle K on US-41 at Hale Road in Land o’ Lakes. Deputies attempted a felony traffic stop but the driver fled and a pursuit ensued off-road and eventually crashed between two homes it the Wilderness Lakes subdivision.
Deputies were able to detain the driver, 27-year-old Michelle Bager but the passenger, 19-year-old John Suggs fled on foot. With the help of a K9 unit, Suggs was taken into custody a short distance away from the scene.
Suggs and Bager have been transported back to Manatee County to face charges. Both suspects have extensive criminal histories, according to jail records.
The victim was battered during the carjacking but the extent of his injuries are unknown.
