  • I go through that intersection every day. Very difficult because of the Intersections angle, blind spots, speed of traffic, inpatient drivers, and drivers ignorance of right away.
Your family will be in my family’s prayers. Get well soon

  • I’m the driver of the Chevy Cruz and the mother to the two little boys. I want to say thank you soooooo much to every person who stopped at the scene. Each one of you helped me and my boys through the most scary time of our lives. Before fire rescue arrived, I remember so many of you approaching to keep me calm and safely help my boys. The amount of appreciation and love I have for each person that stopped and first responders on scene is unexplainable. Please feel free to contact me if you were one of them because I’d love to personally thank you!!!! I suffered a couple broken bones, my two year old has severe bruising to his face, and my 1 year old has minor bruising. We got lucky considering the crash details. Thank you to everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers!

  • I drove past this accident this morning. Approximately a dozen emergency vehicles were surrounding it, effectively screening the view from the road, and rightly so.
Traffic control was there, valiantly trying to keep motorists moving. Southbound traffic was held up for about 5 minutes, and the number of ghoulish rubber-neckers was disgusting. So was the driver of a red and white mustang about 3 cars behind me, who tried to blow past us all until realizing the area was crawling with numerous law enforcement too.

  • Everybody … their mom has multiple broken bones pray for her the baby is ok but the two year old needs prayers

  • Not only was that at a different intersection (98 and lake Lindsey) but was 22 years ago, and completely irrelevant to this car accident.

    Wednesday, 17 January 2018, 3:24 pm
    • This was meant as a response further down the thread.

  • This intersection has always been a dangerous one. That is why the blinking light was installed (what good that does) But since they (road maintenance) has redone that corner there are much more accidents and serious ones. Traffic flows at 55+mph towards Citrus County vehicles are not slowing enough to take the turn and as sharp as it is they cross over into the oncoming lane.
Hoping all are ok in this accident and this is the one that makes the county fix this intersection. Not to mention there is a bus stop just around this corner,. Bus stop right in front of the driveway of the fire station blocking enterance/exit of emergency vehicles. The day is going to coming fire trucks won’t be able to respond to a call or someone is going to round that corner and slam the bus.

    • You are sooo right! I go through this intersection 2-times every week day. I have a smaller vehicle, and it’s nearly impossible to see past the ridiculous metal barrier blocking your view on the right; if you’re heading east to west! There needs to be a light at that intersection!!! I hope everyone will be okay and prayers and thoughts go out to everyone involved.

  • Sending prayers to all involved

  • That’s the same intersection that that loser shot & killed the 2 school teachers.

    Wednesday, 17 January 2018, 12:32 pm
    • Actually that was at 98 and Lake Lindsay Road not Broad and Lake Lindsey Road. This was a car accident as well, big difference. Seems to me you shouldn’t be commenting on either!

      Wednesday, 17 January 2018, 1:34 pm
      • If you are referring to Loser’s Suck’s comment, HE is right. Those teachers WERE shot to death. It was not a car accident. I was still AT the school (worked there) when the call came in. The two teachers (men) were forced from their vehicle at gunpoint and shot to death. So if you’re gonna shoot off YOUR mouth to correct others, YOU need to get the FACTS first don’t you think ‘facts’??

        Thursday, 18 January 2018, 6:19 am
        • lol, lack of comprehension… fact, this accident was at Broad and Lake Lindsey. fact, the shooting took place at US 98 and Lake Lindsey.

          Thursday, 18 January 2018, 12:55 pm
        • Thank you Madea’s Sista for clarifying that and that you worked at the school, no one cares! It was a horrific day that no one will ever forget, nor do we want to continually relive it, especially family! Loser sucks posted another comment that was deleted. So before you go shooting off your mouth you better get your facts correct. Obviously you’re not family so please don’t continue bringing such a tragic day to life.

          Thursday, 18 January 2018, 1:49 pm
          • Facts, mean people like you suck. Why should we still care about 2 dead guys. It won’t bring them back. Relax! Everyone is entitle to an opinion.

            Thursday, 18 January 2018, 3:51 pm
            • Mean people like me, I am not the one who brought up this tragedy from 22 years ago, to bring heartache to the families. I was clarifying the facts that loser suck posted and Madea’s sista. If you’re not family you don’t have a clue how any of us feel to this day!

  • Dam wish people would learn to pay attention when driving. I hope and pray that these people are ok. Time this state puts Fault insurance in place let those Who cause the accidents insurance pay and they pay higher insurance. Sick in tired of paying higher insurance cause people don’t pay attention and don’t know how yo drive. We’re all paying higher insurance cause of those people.

    • Vavo, you are assuming they are insured which may not be the case. A new study by the Insurance Research Council (IRC) reported that approximately 23 percent of Florida drivers are uninsured, the fifth highest percentage of uninsured drivers in the nation.

      • Not supposed to be able to renew your tag without insurance.

        Wednesday, 17 January 2018, 2:40 pm
        • What I was told that those uninsured ,purchase insurance, get their tags, then after a little while, CANCEL, get money back. Have no idea if true or not, but makes sense 2 me. Who said in this particular crash someone did not have insurance? Must have missed that one,

          • Penalties for Driving Without Insurance in An Accident

Accidents in the state of Florida need to be reported immediately to law enforcement if they involve an injury or death, a hit-and-run, intoxicated driver, or property damage that appears to be over $500. What if you don’t have car insurance in Florida and get into an accident? The potential consequences can be significant. If you are found to be at fault, and the other driver suffers injury to their person or property, you can be held personally liable for the entire cost. On top of that, you could lose your driving privileges until the entire cost of the damages has been paid.

For drivers involved in an at-fault accident that hurt or killed someone while driving uninsured, an SR22 Certificate is required, which essentially requires you to carry extra coverage at higher limits than what the Florida No-Fault Law asks in a regular minimum policy. Under the Florida Financial Responsibility Law, you are also required to purchase bodily injury liability coverage on top of the coverage that is already required. This is a costly penalty in Florida, where the higher limits are nearly ten times the statutory minimum bodily injury limits. Plus, you may find it difficult to find an insurer who’s willing to take on the risk of a driver who has already been involved in a serious accident.
I pray for all hurt in crashes that are not their fault

          • Yes polecat, that DOES happen here alot. Because the jackasses think they can ‘beat the system’, but in actual fact, it catches up to them. Maybe not right away, but usually within 3 mos. or less. Insurance companies nationwide are all doing this now. Once someone takes out an auto policy then turns around and cancels it like that, they automatically notify the DMV in the county the TAG is registered in. And once DMV gets that notification from the ins. company, they AUTOMATICALLY CANCEL YOUR TAG, and red flags it in the database. Sometimes they will send you a letter in the mail, but many times the jerk pulling the stunt usually is on the move alot and never gets his mail, so therefore MOST of those get returned via USPS. So then they find out the hard way when they get pulled over because that cop sitting behind them at a light decides to randomly run their plate that comes up ‘unregistered w/no insurance’. Then they get busted. Many times it will lead to an arrest depending upon their license/ticket history.
So short version is it comes back to bite them in the ass BIG time. So it’s not very smart to pull that stupid stunt. It’s asking to get caught. Which in the long run can and usually leads to more money lost if there is an arrest to include tickets, bail, lawyers fees, etc. ALL of which is way more than the car ins.
            NOT a good idea.

            • As soon as a policy cancels the insurance company does notify the DMV.The DMV gives you a short time to prove you have insurance and if you do not they suspend your drivers license.Hope all recover soon

          Nancy you are right

If this family got in this accident and not their fault hope the other party has insurance to pay for these medical bills. Poor innocent children and hope mom comes through this well too. Praying for this family

      • Im not assuming I’m just saying if your at fault you should pay the consequences not those who obey the law and cause no accidents.

        Thursday, 18 January 2018, 1:37 am
    • A driver does not need to be insured in FL, only the car. We found this out the hard way when a car hit us, driven by the child of the auto owner and the child was excluded from the policy. Per FHP, it is not against the law for a person to drive without insurance. It is against the law for the vehicle to not be insured is all.

      • They should be held responsible cause they are driving the car. If you can afford a car you need insurance tonprotectvyourself & others. I remember my husband getting pulled over in Spring Hill when we moved here & he couldn’t find his proof of insurance in his car that he had do long to show Of insurance in the government building in Brooksville or pay a fine of $75.00
