Crash on Spring Hill Drive Claims Life of Port Richey Teen
SPRING HILL – Last night, RNRF reported a two-vehicle crash that left several injured on Spring Hill Drive. The Florida Highway Patrol is now reporting the death of a Port Richey teen who was a passenger in one of the vehicles.
Officials say Corey Hare, 28, of Hudson was traveling westbound on Spring Hill Drive in a Ford F250. Eric Jefferson, 49, of Port Richey was traveling in front of Hare’s pickup truck in a Dodge Caravan, when he stopped near the intersection of Treehaven Drive to deliver phone books. Hare failed to stop and collided with the rear of the van.
Jefferson and three passengers, La Shelle Stanley, 40, Verdell Pettis, 21, and a 7-year-old boy suffered minor injuries. A fourth passenger, Verdell Pettis, 18, of Port Richey was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital where he later died. Hare also suffered minor injuries.
The investigation continues and charges are pending, say officials.
