Deputies Forced to Break Window to Arrest Suspected Drunk Driver
SPRING HILL – A suspected drunk driver found out the hard way that ignoring law enforcement’s orders to exit his vehicle doesn’t make them go away.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Fire Rescue responded to the intersection of Deltona Blvd and Elgin Blvd this evening after reports of a minor rear end collision. There were no injuries and very little damage to both vehicles but the “at fault” driver refused to open his door after several orders by a Hernando County Sheriff’s Deputy. To prevent the driver from pulling away, Fire Rescue pulled their fire engine close to the bumper of the suspect’s vehicle. Once in place, a deputy used a handled device to safely break the driver’s side window and take the suspect into custody.
The suspect’s identity and potential charges are unknown at this time.
