Deputy’s Heroic Actions Save Man from Being Crushed by Car
INVERNESS (CITRUS) – Two people were injured in a horrific rollover crash on Sunday and one of the victims can thank several Citrus County Deputies for saving his life.
According to Citrus County Officials, Deputy Indorato responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of SR-44 and S. Cove Walk, where he discovered the heavily damaged vehicle upside down in the woods. Indorato found one victim had been ejected and a second victim’s head was being crushed by the vehicle. Indorato immediately called for additional help, while he tried to hold the weight of the car off the victim’s head.
Several more deputies arrived on scene and helped lift the car off the victim’s head, so that paramedics could gain access and pull the victim out.
Officials say Deputy Indorato used his cheek to key his radio while holding up the vehicle and waiting for additional help.
The driver of the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Citrus Memorial for treatment. The victim who was trapped under the vehicle was airlifted to a trauma center with severe injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
We will update this story with additional information once the FHP releases a full report.
