DEVELOPING: Armed Standoff Underway, Suspect Wanted for Arson, Battery, False Imprisonment
UPDATE: 9:24 P.M. – Officials say the suspect died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
UDPATE: 9:06 P.M. – There are unconfirmed reports that the standoff is over and the suspect is deceased. We have no further information at this time.
BROOKSVILLE – An armed standoff is underway at a residence on Duffield Road, after a man wanted in Citrus County on several felony warrants fled to Hernando County.
A spokesperson for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office tells RNRF, “The suspect ran from a scene here in Citrus earlier, specifically a home in Homosassa. We believed he was heading for Hernando County. He has 3 warrants out of our county. Arson, False Imprisonment, and Domestic Battery.” At this time, officials could not release addition information regarding the case.
Earlier today, deputies surrounded a home on Fulmar Street in Weeki Wachee, after it was believed that the suspect may be inside. It was later determined that he barricaded himself inside a home located at the 24000 block of Duffield Road in Brooksville.
Numerous Deputies and a SWAT team have surrounded the home and are attempting to negotiate with the suspect.
