  • I know this family, they are all good people! I also am in law enforcement, some people just don’t realize how difficult some situations can be and what affect it has on a person. I hope this all ends well for all involved.

  • Second time? Clarify please 2nd time in county this type of incident or 2nd time for this detective? My concern: Detective with 14yrs of service did he not have signs of distress among his colleagues before this happen. Are we not taking care of our LEO’s or evaluating them for emotional stress, drug and/or alcohol abuse periodically. These people are under daily stress of the job to protect and serve, Before we judge this man lets find the reason behind his actions.

  • Amen Joanne. I’m ashamed to live in this county 😟 there is nothing and we have a huge population of mental illnesses and all that happens is they are treated with disgrace and forced brutality and thrown in jail, which they get no help in. Until a judge whose totally unqualified to make any calls on mental illnesses throws them on the street again only more messed up from being in a place they don’t belong in the first place… It’s all about the money and greet and power hungry political frustrating….

  • Posts like this are so sad. Mental Illness is alive and well all over the World. The one thing that Hernando County does not have AND NEEDS, is a decent care facility, that is a decent size to accommodate people who are suffering with depression and other mental illnesses. It’s not all because of drugs either. People are depressed for so many reasons….look at this Country that we are living in….that’s enough to depress anyone.

    • This county has a very large percentage of drug users. You have no idea. Families and friends always want to paint a different picture of their loved ones but reality is something you have no idea about how bad it is out there.
Why our first response personnel like rescue and enforcement have such dangerous jobs.

      Monday, 8 January 2018, 10:14 pm
      • So true!!!!!! I work service desk at a retail store and I can’t tell you how often I have druggies come in to return stolen stuff to get cash for their habit. Three of them are women who use their children to do the returns because they are locked out of the system so they can’t get money. It’s truly sad.
