DEVELOPING: Man Thrown from Boat Near Bayport Canal, Search for Running Boat Underway
UPDATE: 1:01 P.M. – RNRF just spoke with a boater who witnessed the incident and was able to capture the runaway boat and bring it to shore. John Gagliano says he secured the boat while other boaters rescued the man from the water. Follow this link for the FULL STORY.
UPDATE: 1:00 P.M. – According to officials, an individual was operating their watercraft near Bayport Park when the boat collided with pilings near the main channel. The individual was ejected from the boat and was brought back to shore by a good samaritan. The boat is currently operational and unmanned in the main channel.
FWC is enroute to assist with the unmanned watercraft.
Please exercise caution if you are operating or plan to operate a watercraft in this area!
SPRING HILL – Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Marine units and the FWC are searching for an unmanned boat that is still running somewhere in the area of the Bayport Canal.
There are unconfirmed reports that a man was pulled from the water and is being transported to a trauma center after suffering unknown injuries.
