Drive-by Shooting Injures Infant, Mother Documented Gang Member
PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – A one year old little girl was airlifted to a trauma center late last night, after she was shot in what officials believe is a gang-related drive-by shooting.
Deputies responded to the 7300 block of Westcott Drive around 11:30 p.m., after reports of several shots being fired at the home. One of the rounds entered the front bedroom where the baby girl was sleeping and hit her in the wrist. The child’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, according to officials.
Investigators have determined that the shooting was not a random act and that the mother is a documented gang member.
Video surveillance at the location captured the incident which displayed a dark colored sedan stopped in front of the residence and then fled the area moments later.
Officials say there are no known suspects at this time.
