Driver Nearly Decapitated After Driving Corvette Under School Bus

BROOKSVILLE – The driver of a Corvette is lucky to be alive this morning, after an accident at Broad Street and Jefferson Street left the classic sports car wedged under a school bus.

According to sources, the driver had just finished an overnight shift and fell asleep behind the wheel. That’s when the driver plowed under the rear of the school bus, stopping just short of the driver’s head.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash, and the driver of the Vette walked away without injury.

A tow truck is being used to lift the bus off of the Corvette.

There may be some road blockage at this time.

So judge mental , but is it because they have been outside of reality for so long? I’m assuming out of reality because of , I’m assuming retirement???? Or many here on disability….. Working 40-80 hours a week , running kids all over, volunteer work, grocery shopping , doctor appointments, car repairs, vet appointments, church……. Ummmmmmmm YES I drive around tired???? I don’t know any parent that doesn’t???? As well as anyone else that has raised a family or had a full time job has done…..

  • this the second time a car has run underneath the rear of a school bus. these buses have a upward angle from the back wheels back. shouldn’t there be some kind of D.O.T. bar there, like on tractor trailers to keep this from happening?

  • Thank you!!!

    • lmao

      Friday, 7 October 2016, 9:19 am
  • Agreed.
They should check out the employee parking if they think employees don’t drive cars like this.

Actually 2 employees that drive this exact car at the Walmart at 19 and Spring Hill Drive.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 10:58 pm
  • how much do you people think that corvette really cost come on get real its one on 50 for 8grand witch is not alot of money at all and as for walmart distribution yea they can afford it making 20 plus and hr unlike some of you cars depreciate so much these days cars is worth nothing they use to be not like the vett was a sting ray or something glad buddy is ok oh and @nikki you should ride thru the parking lot sometimes to see the cars we can afford

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 10:58 pm
  • Wrecking a beautiful Corvette should be outlawed!!!
    (Seriously, glad he’s okay)

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 9:51 pm
  • If he was smart that’s what he would do. Hows he going to feel when he ends up in that prison for killing someone because he drove home exhausted because he “wanted to get home”?

I drove a truck all my life and no, I NEVER drove when I got tired, I stopped and took a nap. I was smarter than to endanger my life and the lives of others. I also never had an accident and never got a ticket.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 8:19 pm
  • So I guess you approve of driving while you’re exhausted. Might as well start driving while drunk and high also because the effects are exactly the same.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 8:14 pm
  • Amen!
Can’t get over all these idiots making excuses for driving while exhausted.
How bout if that bus had been full of kids that had been injured or worse! ?

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 8:05 pm
  • Show me the law that says that.
Is someone forcing you? What stops you from calling someone else you drive you, taking a cab, etc.
Is it really worth endangering your own life and the lives of others? Doesn’t sound very smart to me. What if there were kids in that bus? You would have been raising Hell then for sure!
    Glad you think that’s mandatory.
    I’d say that’s a pretty dumb idea…

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 8:00 pm
  • The buses do not need anything redesigned or added.People need their driving skills redesigned and commen sense added

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 4:19 pm
  • Just some information, The angle on the rear of the buses are so they can be towed in case of breakdown. As for the incident, it is unfortunate that it happened and fortunate that no one was killed. Accidents happen… As always, thanks Tom for unbiased reporting.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 3:47 pm
  • If you’re that tired take a Uber home. I understand working overnights but if you are going to put yourself or other people at risk get a ride home no excuses! Tired of all these people not using common sense anymore. This is getting ridiculous!

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 3:32 pm
  • Now that was a real ‘wake-up call’…lol.
Bet he will think twice before that happens again…

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 3:28 pm
  • Those buses need to be redesigned. Any car that hits the back will end up having the roof cut off because the back of the bus is too high. Or they need to add some type of Mansfield bar like tractor trailers have.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 2:02 pm
    • I agree. They should change the design. I remember back when i was in school, we had a substitute driver who missed a stop and backed up right ontop of a car. If we weren’t in the back and started yelling, that person would have been killed, as the bumper stopped right at there head. And that was the second time i had seen that happen…

  • Intervention: Divine + have driven or drove. Never ever drived. Hurts to type that.
We have seen low, short, small cars under the backend of school buses many times lately.
Seems there are more low profile (I call them mosquitoes) loud zippy cars around, kids.
Can they not weld a skirt or grill on the rear of the buses? A crash bar of sorts?
We all know who is at fault…clearly. Cheaper than lives lost. Just an idea.
City buses don’t seem to be up so high in the rear. I saw a red Corvette (pretty one) at the Murphy USA (Walmart) gas station yesterday. Hard to tell if that’s the one. Look up, slow down, pay attention.
Blessed he walked away from that crash. Amen.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 1:31 pm
  • To the Vette driver Glad you made it out of that accident alive

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 1:22 pm
  • Drived?
Anyone with any sense knows better than to drive when they’re exhausted. How many lives did this person endanger? It doesn’t matter if they were just out saving lives or whatever the excuse…there is NO excuse. Call a friend, call a cab, take a nap first. NEVER an excuse!

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 12:31 pm
    • Oh because I’m sure you have never driven your car while you were tired?..who are you to judge or anybody to judge you don’t the what happen so stop assuming husband works 12 to 14 hour shifts at the prison and works overnight..he drives home every morning exhausted for the past 10 years ..mind you in another county but it’s part of life he works to provide for his family…what is he suppose to do go in his car and take a nap every morning before driving home??..No he wants to get home because he wants his bed !..everyone needs to stop their shit with assuming and jumping conclusions!. Prayers to all involved!..smh

      Thursday, 6 October 2016, 6:20 pm
  • That guy is one very lucky dude.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 12:19 pm
  • Why do people have to be soooo judgemental? Maybe, just maybe, this was a medical personnel that just finished a long shift taking care of other peoples loved ones??? Im sure many of you have drived while being exhausted… Dont throw stones.. Im just happy there were no injuries to anyone.

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 12:13 pm

        Thursday, 6 October 2016, 1:12 pm
        • Why is it so important that you know the names of accident victims?Oh you must be the poster that looks up the names and post their whole life on here. Most people say “That looks like someone I knows car do you know the name?”.Not get made the names are not published.

          Thursday, 6 October 2016, 2:48 pm

            Thursday, 6 October 2016, 2:51 pm
  • Bet he worked at Walmart or the distribution center because they both work you until your about to fall asleep

    Thursday, 6 October 2016, 12:07 pm
    • You really think the Walmart Distribution Center pays enough to afford a Corvette?

      Thursday, 6 October 2016, 2:46 pm
      • friend bought a a vet for 4k off craigslist used. distribution pays upwards of 35k plus a year if you have a decent position. Math and sarcasm are not your strong points.. i can see if it was a ferrari or lamborghini.

        Thursday, 6 October 2016, 10:57 pm
      • My husband happens to make quite enough to pay for a Corvette, house, boats, vacations etc LOL.
There are also manager positions that pay well over $100K yearly at the DC.

        Friday, 7 October 2016, 12:40 pm
