Drug Bust Could Have Turned Deadly for Detectives – Handgun within Suspect’s Reach

BROOKSVILLE – On Thursday, Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a Ford F-150 at the intersection of Cort ez Blvd and Don Jr. Ave.

According to officials, investigators made contact with the driver, 33-year-old Alfred Joseph Grabowski Jr., who appeared nervous and was sweating profusely. Strapped in a car seat next to Grabowski, was a small child, later identified as Grabowski’s eight-month old son.

During their investigation, detectives noticed glass pipe inside the vehicle, commonly used for smoking illegal drugs. Grabowski was asked to exit the vehicle, so they could continue their investigation. As he exited, detectives noticed a handgun tucked in the side of the driver’s door.

K-9 searched the vehicle and discovered a large amount of illegal narcotics. The following items were located inside the vehicle:

–    Three clear baggies with a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.  The total weight of the substance was 114.35 grams.

–    One clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine.  The total weight of the substance was 1.73 grams.

–    13 red pills – later identified as Oxymorphone Hydrochloride 10MG.  The total weight of the substance was 2.85 grams.

–    116.5 white pills – later identified as Hydromorphone Hydrochloride 8MG.  The total weight of the substance was 23.21 grams.

–    16 white pills – later identified as Alprazolam 2MG.  The total weight of the substance was 1.79 grams.

–    Two digital scales

–    One clear glass smoking pipe.

–    $2,142 in U.S. Currency.

Officials say the pills were all packed for distribution.

As a result of the investigation, Grabowski was charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone, Possession and Sales of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of a Structure used in Sales or Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance.

Grabowski was booked into the Hernando County Jail and held on a $132,000 bond. Less than 24 hours later, Grabowski posted that bond.

The child was turned over to his mother.

  • U ask where’s the mother? She was prob at home shooting up meth. He’s a dealer had been for a long time. Neither one of them are fit for raising children. He also was also ROR not a bond at 5 pm the next day. This is the kind of person who shouldn’t be out on the streets. Neither should the mother.

  • Re: Mikeash,
Please be advised I am a well educated individual with knowledge pertaining to the legal field. As to my personal life that is non of your concern! Although I’m sadden by your unability to think rationally outside the box, clearly I can see why one is coaxed into believing nonsense as you do! An individual should never be presumed guilty based upon the plot being told. Media has a tendency to concentrate only on details to try and persuade one to believe. Listed below you will find an example as to a person whom might be in a similar situation that indeed would be innocent! For future reference try and refrain from using prejudice until you have all facts!

Ex. An emergency arises. Father baffled, leaves in vehicle.
    A. his own, which could have been used by a person before him and he is unaware of positions inside OR
    B. transportation could belong to another being, also making him unaware of what the vehicle possess

Thank you and have a wonderful day!

  • Randi …not sure what fantasy world you are living in but it’s pretty obvious that this man is had intention to sell and possibly use so innocent until proven guilty should not apply here. You must know or be related to this man for you to stick up for him with those ridiculous comments of innocent until proven guilty.

  • Premature judgement never prevails in the end! Many neglect to acknowledge underlying factors and possibilities! Personally this article disgusts me! The negative persona this article is attempting to persuade our community with is typical for you journalists! For this man is innocent until proven otherwise!

  • Wow, I think this is great news but what’s sad to me is how rare these stops are, And how much praise the sheriff’s dept seems to need. What’s funny with social media is we convict people here instead of the court. Somehow Facebook has creates the delusion that people’s opinions matter to anyone but themselves, most of hcso is hard working decent men and women but some are as incompetent as any I’ve ever seen
