DUI Suspect Crashes, Inspects Vehicle and Drives Off
SPRING HILL – Last night around 11:00 pm, reports began pouring of a possible rollover accident on Commercial Way.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not released an official report at this time, but according witnesses, a white SUV traveling northbound near Timber Pines Drive, rolled over and came to rest on its wheels. The driver exited the vehicle, checked out the damage and drove away.
Not far from the accident scene, Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in front of 3570 Commercial Way (Salvation Army). Although heavily damaged, the vehicle did not appear to have been involved in a rollover accident.
The driver, 49-year-old Nunziata Maiorino of Orlando was not injured but deputies did suspect her of being under the influence of alcohol. After failing a series of sobriety tests conducted by the FHP, Maiorino was taken into custody and charged with DUI with property damage, hit and run with property damage and possession of drug paraphernalia. Maiorino remains behind bars at this time, held on a $1,500 bond.
