A hit and run crash that occurred on Barnette Road left a family of four shaken up but uninjured, after a woman struck their vehicle and then fled the scene.
According the to the victims, a woman driving the gold Chevrolet compact car, pictured below, crossed over the center lane and struck the rear bumper of their car. The female driver fled the scene with the victim’s in pursuit. Eventually, the suspect driver drove off the roadway and into a ditch at Rosewen Street.
Witnesses say the woman stumbled out of her car and at first was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, however, sources tell RNRF that the woman did no display signs of impairment during the subsequent investigation.
There are unconfirmed reports that the woman received a criminal citation to appear in court for hit and run.
Two women and two children, including an infant, were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. The victims say it could have been much worse if they had been struck head-on.
