Former CenterState Bank VP, Youth League Treasurer Facing New Fraud Charges

HERNANDO – You may remember David Donato, the CenterState Bank Executive convicted of fraud after he obtained lines of credit totaling more than $143,000 dollars through the Hernando Youth League. Donato used his position as the organization’s treasurer to apply for credit through CenterState Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President and Commercial Lender.

Donato pled guilty to bank fraud last September and was sent to Montgomery Federal Prison, where he is set to be released next February. Donato faced up to 30 years behind bars prior to his conviction. But Donato may not be out of the woods yet, after sources tell RNRF that he may be facing new fraud charges in Hernando County.
Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Denise Moloney confirmed that two new cases are currently under investigation by the Economic Crimes Division. She could not comment further on the details but she did say that the cases were opened in April of 2015.
According to our sources Donato stole more than $140,000 dollars from Hernando High School and an additional $20,000 from the Hernando Youth League.
There are unconfirmed reports that warrants have already been issued for Donato’s arrest related to those charges.
We will bring more on this story as it develops.
