Heavy Smoke Covers Much of the County – Prescribed Burns the Cause

HERNANDO – Many of you have voiced concerns over the presence of heavy smoke throughout the county.

There is currently a 142 acre prescribed burn in Homosassa, west of US Hwy 19. A second prescribed burn is 922 acres in the area of Croom near trail 10. Winds are out of the NE at 10 miles per hour which, is why heavy smoke is covering much of Brooksville and Spring Hill.

There are no active out of control brush fires at this time.
