High School Asst. Prin. Overdoses on Marijuana Cookies, Mother and Daughter Arrested

PASCO – Anclote High School Assistant Principal Donna Lynch Haff, 50, and daughter Allison Haff, 19, are facing possession of marijuana charges, after Donna overdosed on marijuana laced cookies she ingested Sunday.

According to officials, Allison says she bought the cannabis oil laced cookies from coworker to give to her mother on her 50th birthday. After eating the cookies, Donna became ill and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa for treatment. Donna was released the next day and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Allison faces possession of marijuana over 20 grams.

Both have since posted bond and Donna has been placed on paid leave from Anclote High School.

  • Lol cookies? I think you run more of a risk of catching diabetes then overdosing on weed. However she could have been allergic to it there are some people that are.

    Sunday, 20 November 2016, 9:44 am
  • Be thankful she didn’t want to try “mushrooms” for her 50th birthday!!!!

    Thursday, 17 November 2016, 2:33 pm
    • Please research about overdosing on the oil based cookies !!!!! Seems the hospitals in Colorado have been inundated with over doses since making it legal !!

  • ummm overdose questioning aside…. The daughter bought cookies for her mom for her birthday. Did mom know they were special cookies?? If not, why would she be charged? There is nothing I’m seeing in here saying that the mom knew they were laced. Then placed on paid leave?

IF she did know they were special, that’s another story

    • I read on bay news nine she wanted to try weed for her 50th bday, so YES she knew. But I also believe there is a law that you can’t be charged if you call for help Cuz someone is overdosing.

      Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 12:28 pm
      • I thought that applied to pill party type thing. Any law officer care to comment? Maybe Tom could check with his contacts at sherrif’s office. Then again may not want to spread that type of info around- everyone will try to use that as an excuse!!

        Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 8:11 pm
  • there is nothing wrong with correctly made oils, and who ever told you that the only oil is CBD was not very informed.
Also, how many cookies did she eat? what dosage was each cookie? What instructions was she given when she purchased the cookies?
It’s not the cookies fault if you can’t follow instructions!

    Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 8:50 am
    • You’re right there is not wrong with using correctly made oils. You would think our sheriffs office would be better informed.

      Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 10:55 am
    • Cbd oil no thc hash oil lots of thc buds ground up and heated or butter . cbd oil does nothing unless you have health problems but no high. • COOKIE MONSTER!

    Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 7:40 am
  • The last thing that either of these blobs need is something that’ll give em the munchies. Next time lace those cookies w/ an appetite suppressant & then hit the gym.

    Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 7:26 am
  • You eat half of a cookie not the whole damn tray…..

    Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 6:32 am
  • Good God, they both look like they had the munchies prior to eating the cookies.

    Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 5:16 am
  • Tom you are awesome!

    Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 1:26 am
  • Did anyone think cookies could be laced with marijuana laced with another substance ???? Spice, cocaine, god knows what else. Never tried marijuana oil so don’t know anything about it. If suppliers/dealers will lace the plant with stuff why not oil also.
I’ll stick with plant base marijuana brownies, thankyou. No oils. LOL

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 11:25 pm
    • Same thing no difference

      Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 12:35 pm
  • This is so wrong! People need to educate themselves! CBD oil (it’s called cannabidiol not cannabis oil) does not contain THC therefore there is no high! It was clearly laced with something else. This is the type of stuff that is going to ruin it for the people who actually use and need CBD.

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 10:29 pm
    • Thats has notta to do with it you can already get the cbd oil in Fl if you qualify

      Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 7:44 am
      • It does have something to do with it….and if you know about it you know could get CBD long before….a certain percentage is legal…I’m aware of what you can get legal with the correct medical diagnosis. Again you DO NOT get high from Cannabidiol!

        Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 10:50 am
      • The word you’re looking for is NADA (hispanic for NOTHING) not notta.

        Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 8:16 pm
        • Lmao thanks

          Thursday, 17 November 2016, 1:37 pm
  • LMAO!!! She became ill from eating too many cookies maybe, or she got stoned and couldn’t handle it, but she did not overdose on marijuana….

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 10:25 pm
  • Maybe the cookies were just really crappy and made her sick, lol

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 9:48 pm
  • Lmao she probably just ate too many and got really paranoid. If you don’t smoke or eat them on the regular I wouldn’t suggest eating more then 1 cookie. It also takes about 45 to kick in ???

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 7:57 pm
    • Lol yeah…perhaps she shouldn’t have scared them lol

      Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 9:25 pm
  • I have never seen someone who has THC in there system leave the hospital with a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Even testing positive for other drugs.

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 7:56 pm
  • Wait the mother is getting charge for their daughter giving her them… Was the mother aware though?

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 7:52 pm
  • lmao! OVERDOSE MEANS YOU DIE!! IDIOTS!!!

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 7:15 pm
    • Um, no…the definition of overdose is taking an excessive dose if a drug. People survive overdoses all the time.

      Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 9:24 pm
      • Thank you! I hate when people want to call names and they have no idea what they are even talking about! Get the facts before typing a stupid remark.

        Wednesday, 16 November 2016, 4:24 pm
    • Um no it doesnt. Lol

      Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 10:45 pm

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6:35 pm
  • lol what ever!!! can we say sugar high??

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6:26 pm
  • Priceless

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6:22 pm
  • overdose? I dont use marijuana but overdose? No one has ever died from cannabis..lol She became ill? More like she got high. Did she really have over 20 grams or did they actually weigh the cookies? From the looks of it the sugar and diabetes is more the concern..

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6:20 pm
  • Overdose =/= freaking yourself out. There is absolutely no medical data that suggests marijuana overdose is even a possibility.

    Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6:02 pm
    • Yes and no. If you’re asking if you can overdose and die from marijuana: the answer is no, its not very likely. However, you can experience extreme anxiety (panic attacks) or psychotic reactions (where you lose touch with reality and may become paranoid) after consuming high potency marijuana strains with high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Additionally, people can and do injure themselves because of marijuana’s effects on judgment, perception, and coordination. Further, marijuana accents the effects of other drugs; this is why mixing marijuana and alcohol can lead to a high level of intoxication, risky behavior and/or intensified effects of drinking.

      Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 6:38 pm
    • Got that right!

      Tuesday, 15 November 2016, 9:42 pm
