High School Coach Charged with Having Sex with a Student, Says He Feared Blackmail
ZEPHYRHILLS (PASCO) – A Zephyrhills High School Basketball Coach is accused of having sex with a 17-year-old student who is also a member of the JV basketball team.
According to Pasco County Officials, between February 1st and April 17th of this year, 39-year-old Samuel Manuel Walker had at least two sexual encounters with the girl at his home on 8th Street in Zephyrhills.
Walker, who also serves as a disciplinary instructor at the school, told Pasco County detectives that he continued the sexual relationship with the victim out of fear that she would blackmail him.
Walker faces 2-counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor out of Pasco County and an additional 6-counts of sexual battery on a juvenile out of Hillsborough County. Those charges have been enhanced due to Walker being an authority figure in the victim’s school.
Hillsborough officials say Walker had sex with the victim at a hotel, a car, and on the roadside on several occasions.
Walker will remain behind bars in the Land O’ Lakes jail until he is transferred to Hillsborough County, where he will be booked on the additional charges.
