Holding Back the Tears as Fathers Dance with Daughters
BROOKSVILLE – Both evenings of the 11th Annual Father Daughter Dance were sold out and a big hit with family, friends and event sponsors.
Dad’s goofy moves drew ear to ear grins from their daughters, as they took part in popular dances like the Wable and the Cha Cha Slide. Beyond the laughter and silliness, true enjoyment came in the form fathers and daughters swaying gently back and forth, during songs like Bob Carlisle’s, Butterfly Kisses. Even this hardened reporter had a difficult time holding back the tears, as I danced with my own two daughters. And I know I wasn’t the only Dad with a lump in his throat the entire time.
The girls went wild when a troupe of play-actors took the stage and performed a short musical rendition of Frozen. After the show, family joined the group on stage for a photo opportunity.
Hernando County Parks & Recreation hosted this unique and heartwarming evening, but it was event sponsors like Hungry Howies, Pepsi, and Chick-fil-A, AME International, Harold’s Auto Center, Legomatic Construciton, Publix Charities, Frank Miller Trial Attorney, Dave’s Mobile Auto Detail, Complete Technology Solutions, Wexler Orthodontics, Whiting Insurance, Brooksville Dental Associates, Gator Plumbing, WalMart, Terlep Chiropractic, Dry Me Out, and Staywell who made it all possible. RNRF also sponsored the event and will proudly take part again next year, for the 12th Annual Father Daughter Dance.
