Home Invasions Compared; One Family Uses Firearm, Another Stands by Defenseless
SPRING HILL – On Friday, RNRF reported an attempted home invasion that occurred at a residence on Deltona Blvd, where the occupants defended themselves with a firearm, forcing the assailant to flee the area.
On Sunday, another Spring Hill family came face to face with a violent home invader, but this time the suspect didn’t run away, and the victims were not armed.
According to reports, Deputies responded to 8190 Alhambra Court around 5 a.m. Sunday, after receiving reports that an unknown male suspect was kicking the front door of the residence. The suspect then broke through a screen door and forced entry. Once inside, the suspect began smashing items throughout the house, including a floor fan, chair, television and other items.
Deputies eventually arrived on scene and placed the suspect into custody without further incident.
The victims told investigators that they had no idea who the suspect was, and they had never seen him before. All they could do was stand by and watch as the violent, unpredictable invader destroyed their home.
In all, the suspect caused an estimated $1,300 in damage to the residence.
34-year-old Dale Allen Butzky is charged with Burglary and Criminal Mischief. He remains behind bars on a $12,000 bond.
