Homeowner Captures Purple Faced Pill Popper During Burglary Attempt
BROOKSVILLE – Just after midnight Tuesday morning, Deputies responded to 7601 Moriah Ave, after reports of a burglary attempt at that location.
According to reports, Deputy Vincent Mascitelli made contact with the homeowners, Robert Walsh and Kathleen Kennedy who claimed their neighbor, 29-year-old Ralph Mullins attempted to break into their home. Walsh says the smell of cigarette smoke alerted him to someone being inside the garage; when he went to investigate, he discovered Mullins holding a machete style knife and his face covered in purple paint. Walsh immediately grabbed a stick and told Mullins not to move while they waited for Law Enforcement.
During the arrest, Deputy Mascitelli observed Mullins’ face to be covered in purple paint and wearing all black clothing. Mascitelli also discovered a knife in his possession and another near a lanai with a cut screen.
Mullins admitted to the attempted burglary during an interview; stating “I’m an addict and I wanted to steal painkillers.”
Mullins is charged with Armed Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Burglary Tools. He is currently behind bars – held on $8,000 bond.
