Human Remains Found Among Charred Debris from New Port Richey Structure Fire
UPDATE: 9:45 P.M. – Officials have positively identified the victim as 57-year-old Sherie Hanson. Investigators do not suspect foul play at this time. The investigation continues, according to officials.
NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – Fire Officials have discovered human remains among the charred rubble from yesterday’s house fire on Leisure Lane.
According to officials, County and City firefighter responded to 5540 Leisure Lane where they discovered a fully engulfed two-story structure.
Sources say two occupants escaped without injury but a female was still unaccounted for.
Fire Officials say, after sorting through debris crews found human remains in the debris just before 3 p.m. The remains will be taken to the Pasco/Pinellas Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification and notification of next of kin.
The cause of fire and the circumstances surrounding the fire are still under investigation, as is the cause of death, say officials.
