Inverness Man Dies in Early Morning Crash

BROOKSVILLE – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an early morning crash that killed an Inverness man on US-41.

According to officials, 38-year-old Steve Gadsen was traveling southbound on Snow Memorial Hwy, when for reasons unknown, Gadsen ran the stop sign at US-41 and collided with a tree on the east shoulder of the roadway.  Gadsen succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and died at the scene.

Officials say Gadsen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and it is unknown if it is alcohol related.

  • I dont know if a seat belt can do much good when you sail through and across 41 and slam a tree, maybe it was more than a seatbelt problem.

  • Why in the world would anybody NOT wear a seat belt while traveling in an automobile while either driving or being a passenger is way beyond me., The few seconds that it takes to buckle up can save your life, What a shame for this loss and so many others like this and the ones that are sure to come.

  • Tom, you wouldnt happen to know what happened off Knuckey and Tayco area at 4AM this morning would you? Saw a speeding car followed by a deputy a few moments later. Then heard sirens from other directions.
