“It’s Hammer Time” Man Charged with Violating Injunction
SPRING HILL – Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 9724 Bayside Court yesterday, after a woman called 911 to report a restraining order violation by her estranged husband.
Deputy Blake Vanderford made contact with the woman, who said her husband, 57-year-old Gary Massenburg, approached her from the back yard of her residence – wielding a hammer.
Massenburg was located a short distance away, at the corner of Bayside Court and Deltona Blvd, still in possession of the hammer. Upon making contact, Deputy Vanderford noticed a strong odor of alcohol emitting from Massenburg and small bottle of liquor in his pocket. Massenburg adamantly denied visiting his wife’s residence, when first asked about the incident, but later recanted his story; stating he walked down her street, waving divorce papers that he had just obtained. He also claimed to be retrieving medications that he left behind.
According to court records, Massenburg was served with a Domestic Violence Injunction on February 9th and finalized on February 20th, after Massenburg failed to attend the court hearing.
Massenburg was taken into custody and charged with Violating the Restraining Order and held without bond at the Hernando County Jail.
