  • I think the State of Florida & Federal Gov’t need to do a better job of explaining & educating the public on the necessity of these controlled burns. I am completely skeptical of my most Government run exercises and pray that these controlled burns really benefit the safety of the community or are more about the firefighters getting exercise & training and proving their need to exist. Maybe it’s because of knowing how terrific volunteer fire departments are and I never had reason to question volunteer companies over the paid firefighters. I still can’t get the image of paid firefighters standing on street corners w/ their boots asking for donations while being paid by the taxpayers.

I want to be positive and supportive….but when I see incidents where Glenn Lakes is almost completely wiped out because of poor planning it leaves me as a quiet skeptic.

  • Yeah I drove through there this afternoon. They have smoke covering the roads and flames up to the road in some places. Best to avoid the area right now.
