Local MMA Veteran Corey Hill passes away at 36
Sad news arrived to us Friday, as we learned Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Corey “The Real Deal” Hill passed away at the age of 36.
Hill went into cardiac arrest as a result of a collapsed lung.
Hill’s wife Lauran spoke with TMZ and said this of her late husband.
“Corey was a loving husband and devoted father,” Hill said “He was such a strong role model for our children, and would do anything to keep them safe and happy and healthy. A fighter ’til the end.”
A two-time state champion wrestler at Springstead high school, Hill was a competitor on The Ultimate Fighter season five, losing in the quarterfinals.
He had 6 win and 9 losses as a fighter, but will be remembered for breaking his leg against Dale Hartt.
Fighting aside, Hill was devoted in giving back to his community, helping out The Sharks Wrestling Club at Nature Coast High School.
Corey is survived by his wife and three children.
Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.
