Man Arrested After “Stealing” His Own Pickup Truck
SPRING HILL – The owner of the Dodge pickup truck (pictured below) is behind bars this evening, after he allegedly stole his own truck from a local body shop.
According to Carlo Zarcone of Tate’s Auto Body, the Sheriff’s Office requested one of their tow trucks to tow and impound a vehicle from Killian Street, early this morning. Because keys to the truck were not available, Zarcone says they disengaged the transmission linkage to allow the truck to roll freely.
Just before 5:00 pm this evening, the truck’s owner, 33-year-old William Michael Hennessey entered the Tate’s fenced property on Shoal Line Road, repaired the linkage and drove off with his truck.
Zarcone contacted the Sheriff’s Office and within minutes a deputy spotted Hennessey driving eastbound on Spring Hill Drive. A traffic stop was conducted and Hennessey was taken into custody.
According to jail records, Hennessey is charged with one count of Burglary, but it is not known If that charges is related to taking his truck from Tate’s or the early morning incident on Killian Street. Zarcone says Hennessey is accused of trying to steal air conditioning units, which led to the truck being towed.
