Man Arrested For Running Over Dade City Police Officer
PASCO – A suspect is finally in custody after a near 3-month investigation to capture the man responsible for running down a Dade City Police Officer.
The incident occurred last December at 14000 block of State Street, where Dade City Police Officers attempted to make contacted with a suspected drug dealer. (CLICK HERE FOR FULL STORY)
According to officials, when Officer Kevin Burns approached the suspect’s vehicle, the suspect accelerated and ran over Officer Burns. Officer Miguel Velez fired several shots at the vehicle, but the suspect was able to evade arrest.
On Friday, Pasco County Officials say 20-year-old Markey Wilson was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
Markey has a history of fleeing from law enforcement. In 2015, Wilson was arrested for disobeying a lawful order to stop. Wilson was arrested again in 2016 for failing to appear on a fleeing to elude charge.
Wilson is currently behind bars at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center, where he is held on a $100,000 bond.
