Man Beats and Tortures Teen with Blowtorch, Charged with Aggravated Child Abuse
WESLEY CHAPEL (PASCO) – A man charged with aggravated child abuse says, “I went overboard and took it too far” when he beat a teenage boy for nearly an hour on Tuesday.
According to Pasco County Officials, an argument ensued between 30-year-old Fritz Gerald Barnedo and the 17-year-old victim, which led to Barnedo punching the teen approximately 8-12 times in the face and head, and breaking a wooden coat hanger over his arm. Barnedo then retrieved blowtorch and burned the victim’s hair.
Officials say the victim suffered several facial injuries and complained of deafness in the right ear, however, he did not suffer burns from the blowtorch.
Barnedo confessed to the attack and was transported to the Land O’Lakes Detention Center. Barnedo is free on a $50,000 bond.
