Man Charged with DUI Manslaughter in Early Morning Crash

LAND O’ LAKES – A suspected drunk driver is behind bars today, after an early morning crash on Bell Lake Road claimed the life of a Lutz man.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Patrick John Sessa was traveling eastbound on Bell Lake Road, when he lost control of his Ford SUV and departed the roadway. The vehicle entered a ditch, causing the passenger, 22-year-old James Stewart to be ejected. Stewart was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Sessa was not injured.

A subsequent DUI investigation led investigators to beleive that Sessa was under the influence of alcohol.

Sessa was taken into custody and charged with DUI manslaughter.

Sessa remains behind bars at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center at this time.

Sessa’s mugshot will be provided at a later time.

  • Still amazes me in this day and age how many idiots drink and drive please drop the manslaughterlaw charge to a 1st Degree premeditated murder charge because that’s what it is when you decide to drink and drive and the drunk will always live they should just be executed
