Man Denies Stealing “Helicopter” Despite Surveillance Video

BROOKSVILLE – Deputies responded to the 7-Eleven on Cortez Blvd and Winter Street yesterday, after store clerks reported a theft occurring inside the store.

According to officials, 47-year-old Charles Glenn Coleman Jr. entered the store and was observed on surveillance cameras, taking a remote control helicopter from the shelf and removing it from its packaging. Coleman proceeded towards the door and exited the building without paying for the merchandise. When confronting by store clerks, Coleman returned inside without the helicopter.

Deputies caught up with Coleman at a nearby residence and placed him into custody.

When ask why he took the helicopter, Coleman said that he paid for it, when he was asked to walk back inside.

According to jail records, Coleman has been arrested 7-times since 2011 for various theft and drug charges. Coleman is free on a $5,000 bond.

The Helicopter was never found.
