Man Dies in Collision with Semi, Trucker Stopped To Aid Motorists in Prior Crash

INVERNESS (CITRUS) – Officials are reporting the death of an inverness man, after a two vehicle crash occurred Thursday on SR-44 near South Maplenut Way.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Ladextra Wright stopped his International Harvester Semi to aid motorists involved in a prior accident. Moments later, 74-year-old Oscar Jerrell drove his 2007 Buick into the rear of the truck. Jerrell was transported to Citrus Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The Cause of the crash is still under investigation.
