Man Fires Shot at Brother Over Motorcycle Keys – Faces Agg. Assault Charges
BROOKSVILLE – A heated dispute over motorcycle keys led to one man’s arrest, after he armed himself with a firearm and pulled the trigger.
According to officials, deputies responded to 7136 Cedar Lane Monday night, after reports of weapons disturbance at that residence. Upon their arrival, deputies met with the victims, Brandon Hehmann and Alexandria Hantzis, who say they were assaulted by Brandon’s brother, 25-year-old Spencer Travis Hehmann. They say an argument ensued between Spencer and Brandon over the keys to their father’s motorcycle. When Brandon refused to hand them over, Spencer (who was highly intoxicated according to reports) retrieved a 9mm handgun, pointed it at his brother, and demanded the keys. In fear for his life, Brandon complied, but Spencer fired a single shot into Brandon’s bedroom wall before walking away. As he was leaving, Spencer pointed the gun at Alexandria and said “Back the F***k up!”
Deputies made contact with Spencer in the front yard of the residence and placed him into custody without incident. During an interview, Spencer stated that he was sorry for getting the gun but he did so because his brother had prior military training.
Spencer Hehmann is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and remains behind bars on a $10,000 bond.
