NEW PORT RICHEY (PASCO) – Several Pasco Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives were nearly run over last night, while investigating an unrelated incident inside a crime scene on Mary Ann Drive.

According to officials, around 5:45 p.m. Sunday, deputies and detectives were standing on Mary Ann Drive, when a silver Nissan Xterra drove through the yellow crime scene tape and tried to run over them. The suspect then exited the other side without stopping and continued on until reaching his residence at 5023 Queen Palm Drive.Deputies arrived at his residence and ordered the suspect, 44-year-old Jason Dale Alford to stop and get on the ground but he refused. Alford was taken into custody before entering his home and charged with 2-counts of Aggravated Assault on LEO, Resisting Arrest, and Driving on a Suspended License. Alford was is already on felony probation for driving on a suspended license for the fifth time.

Ironically, Alford was arrested one year ago to the day for DUI with property damage and being a habitual offender.

Alford is currently held at the Land O’ Lakes Detention Center on a $15,150 bond, however, he is held without bond, due to violating felony probation.

  • He should should be charged with attempted murder for each officer, crime scene tech & citizen that he came close to running down. They are out there processing a scene & do not deserve to be targeted by some out-of-control criminal. They are out there protecting us & should be able to go home to their families.
