Man Restrains Three Children with Zip Ties and Tape, Charged with Felony Child Abuse
HUDSON (PASCO) – A Pasco man faces a felony child abuse charge, after he used zip ties and tape to restrain three children.
Officials say on June 10th, 44-year-old John Robert Betz of 8408 Sunnydale Drive used zip ties to bind the hands and feet of three children behind their backs, and then used tape to cover their mouths.
Investigators made contact with Betz who admitted that he restrained the children as punishment, due to their constant fighting. Officials say the children were ages 4,5, and 7 and that Betz was their caretaker. The exact relation of the children is not known but Officials say the alleged crime is domestic in nature.
Officials say injuries from the zip ties were still visible 11 hours after they were removed.
Betz remains behind bars at this time on a $5,000 bond.
